How do you know when someone will commit suicide? How do they react before they do it?

Sometimes I am worried about my friend he is a guy he talks a lot about death but I dont think he will do it, he has a picture of him on facebook hanging its not him but a fake picture. Is this normal? I think its a cryin for help
